Aura Import Export Inc. (« Aura, » « we, » « us, » or « our »), a company incorporated under the laws of Quebec, operates the website aura-collection.ca (the « Site ») and the online store Aura Collection, through which we sell retail products we import from suppliers located internationally, including China.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have regarding it. It is written to comply with Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (« Law 25 ») and, where applicable, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (« PIPEDA »).
1. Person Responsible for the Protection of Personal Information
Under Law 25, our business designates a person responsible for the protection of personal information. Absent another designation, this responsibility is assumed by the person with the highest authority within Aura Import Export Inc.

2. Information We Collect
- Identification and contact information: name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number.
- Account information: username, password (encrypted), order history, preferences.
- Payment information: we never store your credit card details on our servers. Payment processing is handled by our PCI-DSS certified processors (WooCommerce Payments/Stripe, PayPal), which collect your payment information directly.
- Browsing information: IP address, browser type and version, pages viewed, time spent, referring site, approximate geolocation, device type.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6).
- Communications: information you provide through our contact form, customer service, or email.
3. How We Collect This Information
- Directly from you, when you create an account, place an order, fill out a contact form, or subscribe to our newsletter.
- Automatically, through cookies and tracking technologies as you browse the Site.
- From third parties, such as our payment processors (payment confirmation) and carriers (delivery status).
4. Purposes of Collection
- Process and fulfill your orders (payment, preparation, shipping, after-sales service).
- Create and manage your customer account.
- Communicate with you about your orders, questions, or customer service requests.
- Send you marketing and promotional communications, where you have consented (newsletter via Klaviyo).
- Improve our Site, products, and user experience.
- Measure and optimize the effectiveness of our advertising on social media and search engines.
- Prevent fraud and ensure the security of our Site and transactions.
- Comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations (GST/QST, bookkeeping).
5. Consent
We obtain your consent before collecting, using, or disclosing your personal information, except where the law authorizes or requires us to do so without consent (e.g., legal obligations, fraud prevention). You may withdraw your consent at any time for consent-based uses (for example, unsubscribing from our newsletter), subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate properly, analyze traffic, and deliver relevant advertising. A cookie consent banner lets you set your preferences on your first visit.

7. Sharing Your Personal Information
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with the following categories of third parties, to the extent necessary to operate our business:
- Payment processors: WooCommerce Payments (Stripe) and PayPal.
- Carriers and shipping partners: via ShipStation, to prepare and deliver your orders.
- Advertising and marketing platforms: Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Google, Snapchat, Reddit, Klaviyo, within the limits of your consent.
- Technology infrastructure providers: our hosting provider, Automattic (Jetpack, Akismet), WPForms.
- Government authorities: where required by law, a court order, or to protect our legal rights.
- Professional advisors: accountants, lawyers, to the extent necessary for their services.
Our product suppliers located in China and elsewhere do not have access to your personal customer information; our relationship with them is strictly about sourcing merchandise and does not involve sharing your personal information.
8. Transfers of Personal Information Outside Quebec
Some of our service providers (payment processors, advertising platforms, and cloud tools listed above) may store or process your personal information on servers located outside Quebec, including in the United States. Before any such transfer, we conduct a factors assessment in accordance with Law 25 to ensure your information receives adequate protection, including through appropriate contractual agreements with these providers.
9. Retention Period
- Account and order history: for the duration of our relationship, then for the period required by our legal, tax, and accounting obligations (generally 6 years, in line with CRA and Revenu Québec requirements).
- Marketing information: until you withdraw your consent (unsubscribe).
- Browsing information and cookies: according to each tool’s retention period, generally 24 hours to 24 months.
10. Security Measures
We implement reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical security measures to protect your personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, or modification, including encrypted communications (HTTPS), the use of PCI-DSS certified payment processors, and restricted access to personal information within our organization.
11. Privacy Incidents
In the event of a privacy incident presenting a risk of serious harm to affected individuals, we will take reasonable steps to reduce that risk and will notify the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec and the affected individuals, in accordance with our obligations under Law 25.
12. Minors
Our Site is not directed at individuals under 14 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors without parental or guardian consent. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information without such consent, please contact us so we can delete it.
13. Your Rights
In accordance with Law 25 and, where applicable, PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate, incomplete, or ambiguous information corrected.
- Withdraw your consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your information, where consent is the basis for it.
- Request that the dissemination of personal information about you cease, or that it be de-indexed (« right to be forgotten »), in circumstances provided by law.
- Receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format, and request its transfer to a third party (portability), where applicable.
- File a complaint with our Privacy Officer, and subsequently with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer (Section 1). We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request. We may ask for identification to confirm your identity.
